Answer: YES - The pool must be designed and sealed by a licensed engineer and adhere to all of the requirements of
the state of Florida Chapter 64E-9-PUBLIC SWIMMING POOLS AND BATHING PLACES.

Question: Is there any formula that can be used to estimate the cost of building a pool for public use?
Answer: NO - There are so many variables that it is almost impossible to estimate its cost until it had some preliminary
design requirements established.

Question: How long does it take before I can start building a public pool?
Answer: It takes about 3 months.
2-3 weeks for engineering
3-4 weeks for State approval processing
1-4 weeks for building permit processing

Question: How long does it take to build the average public pool?
Answer: Depending on the size and complexity it will take from 8-12 weeks or longer.

Question: Once the pool is built, is there anything we have to do before we can open it for use?
Answer: The pool must be inspected by the designing engineer, the local building department and the Florida
Department of Health before an operational permit is issued.

Question: Does the person or company that takes care of the pool need any special training?
Answer: YES - They must be a state approved certified pool operator.

Question: Does anyone check to see if the pool is cared for properly once it is approved for use?
Answer: YES - The local Health Department will periodically check the pool for proper operation, water flow,
chemical balance and general condition.
